Liane Whittum’s recent series of paintings are a reflection of her time spent traveling by car since moving to a small town in central New Hampshire.  Her work focuses on rural life which transitions between industrial and agrarian landscapes, and untouched wilderness.

Liane works primarily in oil paint in a “realistic-impressionist” style.  She gathers information on site and paints plein-air when composing landscape paintings.  She often will finish her paintings in her studio, which after consideration may be complete as a loose work, or become a more involved work of higher refinement.

Liane Whittum began her career at 19 designing and painting for a furniture company in NH.   She has painted commissioned pieces purchased by private collectors, and her work has been carried in stores across New England including Pier 1 Imports.  Liane has studied art and architecture in Rome and has been an assistant teacher in the Art Department at New England College. Liane currently teaches painting at Main Street Art in Newfields NH.
